Marketing Department

This department provides up-to-date information on international market trends and developments. It also assists exporters, potential exporters and the business community as a whole to identify, develop and exploit international market opportunities for Zimbabwean products and services.

Sources of Information

  • Trade directories (Importers, Exporters, Manufactures, Products)

  • Market studies and product reports

  • Country Profiles

  • Trade journals and magazines

  • Computerized trade databases (Trade statistics, foreign buyers and sellers, Zimbabwean Exporters and importers)

Other services that the department offers include:

  • Online access to major international business databases through the Internet

  • Internet related services

  • Trade advisory services

  • Trade information publishing and dissemination: - (Weekly bulletin, Monthly Newsletter, Trade directory)

  • User guides

  • Photocopying

The department assists established, new exporting companies, including small to medium enterprises (SMEs) to enter exports markets as well as potential for markets. Intensive practical training and exposure in regional markets in terms of transfer of technical skills through its Export Marketing Training Programme (EMTP) reinforce its support. The programme is open to any company (Large or SME) that may require training in any of the modules offered. Companies are selected on the basis of their production, financial and human resources capacity to meet export orders. Management’s commitment to exports together with product quality are also considered.

  • Export Financial Planning and Sources of Finance

  • Export Costing and Terms of Payment

  • Export Market Research

  • Export Documentation, Inco-terms and Trade Agreements

  • Export Promotional Strategies and Development of Promotional Material

  • Export Negotiating Skills and Closing Sales Techniques

  • Export Product Development and Packaging Design.

  • Total Quality Management

  • Good Housekeeping

Operations Department

This department is responsible for the following activities:

Advisory Services on Trade Policy Matters

  • Input into Regional, International Trade Agreements and Arrangements

  • Coordinating Exporters Input into Government Policy on Trade matters

  • Advocacy and Lobbying for conducive Operating Environment

  • Advise and research on macroeconomic fundamentals

This department interfaces with established and new exporters in facilitating export development and promotional activities outlined below:

  • Identifying and Developing Exports markets

  • Advisory Services

  • Carrying out market and product research

  • Carrying out supply surveys

  • Organizing and coordinating buyer seller missions

Establishing linkages and collaboration with foreign trade promotion organizations
